Install LibreWolf, a better version of Firefox

04 Sep 2025 - by 'Maurits van der Schee'

LibreWolf is a custom and independent version of Firefox, with the primary goals of privacy, security and user freedom. LibreWolf is designed to increase protection against tracking and fingerprinting techniques, while also including a few security improvements. This is achieved through our privacy and security oriented settings and patches. LibreWolf also aims to remove all the telemetry, data collection and annoyances, as well as disabling anti-freedom features like DRM.

Installation

LibreWolf has a repository for Debian-based distributions (Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, etc.), with which you can easily install and update LibreWolf. To add it to your system and install LibreWolf, run the following commands one by one:

sudo apt update && sudo apt install extrepo
sudo extrepo enable librewolf
sudo apt update && sudo apt install librewolf

You should see a new application named "LibreWolf" in your application list.
